AbstractEmploying a 792 run-laser-diode as pump source, a novel Tm,La:CaF 2 single crystal as gain medium, passively Q-switched operation near 2 mu m was firstly realized and pulsed laser performances were then systematically investigated. A maximum 367 mW Q-switched laser output was obtained under the absorbed pump power of 1.87 W, corresponding to the maximum repetition rate of 31.49 kHz and the maximum single pulse energy of 11.65 mu J.
