Long-range fluctuation of polar nanoregions in relaxor-based (1-x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3-xPbTiO(3) ferroelectric single crystals

AbstractThe long-range fluctuations of polar nanoregions (PNRs) in relaxor-based ferroelectric single crystals (1-x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3-xPbTiO(3) with x = 0.29 and 0.33 were investigated by using photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS). Dual relaxation processes for the long-range fluctuation of PNRs were observed in both samples. The relaxation-times cover the range of 6-30 mu s and 13-100 mu s for the two relaxations which are attributed to the flipping and boundary fluctuation of PNRs, respectively. The temperature dependence of relaxation time for the slow fluctuations varies with similar trend to that for dielectric response. The flipping process of PNRs is deduced to responsible for the large dielectric response.
